If you have a chronic condition that has not responded to medication, supplements, diets, or therapies — Traditional Chinese Medicine has a different lens for what is happening in your body. Below is a partial list of what our Qigong students have worked with, and the TCM patterns behind each.
Important: Qigong is a complementary practice, not a cure or a substitute for medical care. The patterns described below are TCM perspectives, not medical claims. Always work with a qualified healthcare provider for any diagnosed condition.
Western medicine asks: "What is wrong with this body part?" — and then tries to fix or quiet that part. That is useful, and sometimes lifesaving. But for chronic conditions that do not resolve, the question itself often misses the deeper pattern.
Traditional Chinese Medicine asks a different question: "What is this body trying to tell us?" A migraine is not a random misfiring. A persistent pain is not random tension. An autoimmune flare is not random. In TCM, each pattern points to specific organ systems that have lost their balance — and to the Qi pathways that connect them.
Each chronic condition tends to live inside a specific TCM organ pattern. Here is the lens we use — not as diagnosis, but as a starting point for understanding why your body has been struggling.
In TCM, recurring head pain often points to stuck Liver Qi — the energy of movement and flow that gets bottled up by chronic stress, repressed emotion, and overdrive.
Fatigue that no amount of sleep fixes is often a Spleen-Kidney pattern — the body has been borrowing from its deep reserves and now has nothing left to lend.
When the mind cannot settle and sleep stays shallow, the Heart Qi is often unrooted. TCM sees this as a disconnection between consciousness and the body’s grounding systems.
Chronic anxiety often shows a Liver-Heart pattern — the body is locked in a state of expectation, with no way to discharge the energy that piles up day after day.
When the deepest reserves run low, the body conserves — and what looks like depression is often the Kidney system trying to protect what is left. The path back is rebuilding, not pushing through.
Persistent digestive issues are almost always a Spleen-Stomach pattern in TCM. The body cannot transform food into Qi properly — and emotional patterns often live in this same system.
When pain is everywhere and shifts, TCM looks at Liver Qi stagnation combined with Kidney deficiency — the channels of flow are blocked, and the foundation cannot support repair.
Autoimmune patterns are complex in TCM — usually a combination of deep Kidney depletion and chronic internal Heat that has confused the body’s own protective intelligence.
If you catch every cold and react to everything in the air, your Lung Qi is likely depleted — the body’s outermost defense layer needs rebuilding.
Irregular cycles, mood swings, and reproductive issues often live at the Liver-Kidney axis in TCM — the storehouses of cycling and renewal that get worn down by chronic stress.
Pain that lasts years usually has both a structural and an energetic component. TCM looks at the channels that run through the area and what emotional patterns have been stored there.
Chronic low-grade inflammation is read in TCM as Damp-Heat — a pattern where stagnation has built up and the body cannot clear what it is producing.
Both lenses are valuable. They simply ask different questions and notice different things.
Across years of Qigong programs, these are some of the conditions our students have brought to the practice. Not as cases to be cured — but as patterns to be understood, and over time, eased.
What we have observed: when students commit to the practice and the foundation work begins to rebuild, the body often starts responding in ways no one expected — sleep returns, pain shifts, energy comes back, the nervous system begins to settle. Not because the Qigong "treats" the condition, but because the body finally has the Qi it needs to do the repair work it already knew how to do.
We do not promise outcomes. We teach the practice and trust the body.
Each program meets a different point of readiness. All three are rooted in the same tradition.
